. San Antao was very green and lush, and wet on the first of our visits! Both times we signed up for the Authentic Santa Antao tour, the 1st time with a damp lunch! Also had a rum tasting, Grogue, the fruity tots being STRONG! |

Met Cindy's Julius Caesar. We make the lunch venue look better than it actually was!( our paws got very soggy!) . Back on board life was GOOD, plenty of elegant grub and always good company at mealtimes |

SANTIAGO
We walked round Praia town before the 20 minute drive to Cidade Velha,

Our favourite island. We did the Eruptions tour both visits, the 2nd one including a yummy lunch The village we visited was on a lava field, the nearby volcano having overwhelmed it in 2014. All had been evacuated, forbidden to return; |

but, they were back in force, rebuilding at a pace. We wer relieved however when we left, as we did not really show up against the lava, and were worried the padres might, accidentally, leave us on it! |

We had 2 wine tastings and the one lunch at the winery in the crater. Run by a married couple, they had done wonders in rebuilding the winery after the last eruption. And could the Mrs cook! |

SAL
We had 2 visits her, the first the Botanic Gardens, Project Biodiversity and Santa Maria tour.: none of this good. But we went to the Salt Pans on our 2nd visit and were mighty pleased: had to laugh at the madre though, struggling first to get in, then to float and then to stop floating in the salt-laden water. Meghan was her guardian angel

Went up to 800m where agriculture thrived, due to water collected from the clouds onto fibre screens-clever that! Great scenery too;then stopped at a surfy beach where we thought we had sampled the local grogue- but no photo proof!. |

After lunch aboard, a shuttle to a nearby beach; here we had sunbeds and a cocktail. The padre got the madre into the water and then Meghan played her Guardian Angel role for rhe next 30 minutes. We relaxed on a turtle shell |
||||
The morning's bus had stopped at a souvenir shop on the way back to the ship where we were each given a wee shell momento- as a bribe to enter
